OY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4284 b Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LGS. 6. 21. I am sending you copy of a report on 40/50 chassis. The interesting point is that we have now completed 5000 miles on the Marmon car and we have not had a single fault from the Delco electrical equipment. I should like to hear from you, what you consider is the possibility of getting a Delco set fitted to a 40/50 car. I would recommend that you try and arrange a direct driven generator. I was wondering whether it would not be possible to fit the generator in place of the magneto and have another battery ignition driven off the generator similar to the Marmon, we should then still have two separate ignitions but both battery. It is expecting too much in these days to have a belt drive which needs considerable attention. I believe a lot of the cases of customers having trouble with the battery running down is frequently due to the belt slipping. I know myself if I am running a car and the belt is slipping, it is such a beastly filthy job to get at the belt adjustment, that I should not think of doing it until I was absolutely forced. This means, of course, I should not do it until the battery was run down. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
