Dear Mr. Hives, I thought that in talking to Mr.Royce in reference to Low Pressure Tyres, you would like to go over some of the different results got with these tyres as compared with normal tyres. I am, therefore, enclosing a copy of some draft notes which I am getting together for a paper which I have been asked to read before the Automobile Engineers. You will understand that these are more or less rough notes as yet and that I will be amplify-ing same and getting definite figures which are not given in these notes. From our discussion yesterday on the matter, your experiments apparently agree with the claims I make for these tyres, though I think also you are finding out some points, for instance, the question of noise when braking not being caused by slippage, and doubtless you will find out others by further experience. I would point out that an essential difference with the type of tyre I have been working on as compared with the lines on which the Americans are working is that they are retaining many of the disadvantages of the S/S tyre, whereas the tyre I have been working on gets right | ||
