Dear Sirs,

re Brake Servo Linings

We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 1st inst., and have duly noted your remarks in connection with the tests which you have carried on the servo linings made up in F.F.1 material recently submitted by us.

Whilst in view of the extensive experience which you have no doubt gained in connection with friction materials in conjunction with the application under discussion we hesitate to pursue this matter further, at the same time feel that we cannot quite agree with your remarks that no useful purpose would be served in carrying out further experiments.

We are confident, from extensive tests carried out by The Borg & Beck Company of America, and also ourselves, that the F.F.1 material does not fade under severe conditions which are likely to be met in everyday practice, providing a sufficiently high temperature has been reached initially in order to drive off the volatiles remaining in the makeup of the material. In fact, as we believe we previously mentioned, the final curing of the material takes place under actual operating conditions.

We therefore trust you will agree to carry out further tests with the samples previously submitted and at the same time if we can be of further assistance to you please do not hesitate to call upon us.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED
