Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/HL. 27.3.40. C.M.Nicholls,Esq., Messrs S.Smith & Son, Crocklewood Works, London. N.W. Dear Mr. Nicholls, Thank you for your letter of March 20th, together with the illustrations from the "Motor". These are very useful. I have just had a "trip" pack-up on one of the Experimental car speedometers. In view of what we were saying the other day about the extra reliability of the A.T. speedometer more than compensating for the additional price, I am somewhat worried about this failure. I am returning the instrument to Cricklewood marked for your attention, and would be glad if you would let me have a report on the cause of the failure. Yours sincerely, P.S. Attached is a record of a check of the accuracy of our electric clocks over the past three weeks. I think you will agree that 1 minute a day is too much variation. 1 minute a week is my idea of the required accuracy. [Handwritten annotation] Ans'd to R-R Ltd 29/3/40 Mr. Allen | ||
