I would like to get valve spring EB.3639 on test on one of the Bentley engines undergoing endurance. This particular spring represents what we consider to be an improvement on the present type Bentley spring. It is a parallel spring with damping coils at each end. There is a further experiment which also could be tried out in parallel on the same engine viz. spring Ex.S.312, which again is a parallel spring but without any damping coil provision, in other words it is a plain straightforward semi-open anti-parallel spring. In conjunction with this, damper 313, which is a friction damper should be used. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
