To BY from ROY. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4479. ROY {Sir Henry Royce} 3/MG12.11.32 Axle Springs I gather we are all in agreement that the use of Rolled Eyes on our 20 HP. and 40/50 HP. Chassis Axle Springs is satisfactory. The 20 HP. Springs with Rolled Eyes we have been using for many years, and I understand with every satisfaction; but so far, due to restriction in output, we have carried on with Solid Eyes in the case of 40/50 HP. Chassis Springs. Presumably we are quite safe in substituting Rolled Eyes on the latter in due course, but on this point kindly confirm. It makes quite a substantial difference in the purchase price. Arising therefrom, Messrs. Firth draw our attention to the fact that the outside diameter of such Rolled Eyes on our 40/50 HP. Chassis is greater than that of the Solid, and ask whether the Rolled Eyes as shown will be suitable for our various shackles, Drawing NO.71 attached.
