X964 104th Meeting, Dec.27th,1911. Re C711 - Clutch Trunnion Socket Link. The Committee had suggested that the clearance in this socket was more than was actually necessary, and that the bearing surface was thereby unnecessarily reduced. Mr. Barrington informed the Committee that Mr. Spinney had gone roughly into this matter and believed the clearance to be correct, but he had agreed to go more fully into the question by means of large sized layouts. The Committee agreed that Mr. Spinney should be advised to proceed with this immediately, as the job was not a long one, and we were at present manufacturing a part which we believe could be made more efficient. 105th Meeting, Dec.28th,1911. Re Mr. Bailey's Olympia Report. Renault Clutch. This type of clutch has been experimented with and has been found to be satisfactory, owing to the hissing noise and the burning of the leather. The Committee do not think we should proceed with any further experiments in this direction. Crossley. With reference to the lubrication of the clutch spigot by means of a valve operated on declutching, Mr. Nadin informed the Committee that this system had not been patented. He believed at the time of its invention it would have been possible to obtain a patent, but it was now, of course, too late. | ||
