DYNAMO & DISTRIBUTION BOARD EX CHASSIS 66-RC.{R. Childs}
-CRICKLEWOOD-

It will be remembered that we reported on these items in our EFC1/T2.12.26, after which, owing to information received that the distribution board sent was the wrong one, we asked for the report to be held in abeyance pending modification. There has been some amount of delay as we have been endeavouring to obtain the fuses belonging to this distribution box, though these have not been forthcoming. This now is the modified form of the report.

Dynamo.

It is evident that the machine has been badly overheated. Solder has been melted from the banding wires at the pulley end of the armature as well as from the commutator connections. The connections to the commutator are blackened, but on the running surface there is no sign of sparking having taken place. The contact surfaces of the control brushes are somewhat blackened, but the other brushes are quite good. The insulation of the whole machine to the carcase is O.K.

This machine has the early type of control brush setting of 120°, which gives a rather larger output than our present standard.

Distribution Board.

(1) Cover is badly broken.
(2) The main battery fuse appears to have been at some time melted and badly replaced.
