TO AHC. F.H.A W. DERBY. NVI/29.2.32. COPY TO Messrs. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} CAST WHEELARCHES J.S. X5380. With reference to your memo stating that it will take five weeks to produce the cast wheelarches for the first J.S. body, in which you question our authority to tell you to produce them by next weekend, we suggest that you have misunderstood our memo. We said "We shall want two of these castings within a week if we are to give the first body by Easter. Derby fixed the date of Easter and we merely state what we shall require to work to their schedule. Messrs Park Ward & Co., can produce the castings in 8 to 10 days. Since the patterns so produced might be of no subsequent use we have adopted the alternative course of making the arches in sheet steel. We told them on Friday night and by Saturday noon the wooden formers were made, and by now they will have almost made the arches. We shall not need to trouble you to make arches for this car. We suggest that you go on with the patterns so that you may have some arches ready for the next car and subsequent cars. There is every hope that we shall deliver the body in time for it to be mounted by Easter. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
