G.6/W. 124b Vs.{J. Vickers} 3/IA. 20.3.40. To:- Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} PATTERNS FOR EXPERIMENTAL CAR ENGINES. In reply to your memo reference Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4/ML. 13.3.40, we should like to inform you that the whole of the Pattern Equipment for the straight-8 Cylinder and Crankcase, the 4-bore Cylinder and Crankcase, the Bottom Half Crankcase, and the 4-bore Cylinder Head were delivered to Derby to-day to the Central Stores for the attention of Mr.Sault. We are extremely sorry to have caused you so much trouble with regard to the straight-8, and whilst we know that none of the delay has been intentional on our part, we also know that from your point of view no excuses at this stage will remedy the situation which has arisen. We would assure you of our genuine desire to keep in touch with the developments on the chassis side, and even though at the present time our record is particularly black, we feel sure that you will not hesitate to call upon us for assistance or advice should you at any time require it.
