'SS{S. Smith}' CHASSIS. The following points require early attention on the above chassis. (1) Steel locking plates on the oil relief valve unit connections - it is very difficult to make an oil tight joint when these are used. We consider they are an unnecessary complication, and would prefer a plain soft alum. washer. (2) Oil pipe connection - vacuum pump oil feed pipe to timing gear feed pipe. A 'T' piece connection is used at this point, can we incorporate a hexagon in the 'T' piece so that the nipple on the vacuum pump pipe can be tightened up to the 'T' piece union firmly - at present this is difficult, when the union is tightened sufficiently to prevent an oil leak, the timing gear feed pipe is bent or strained. (3) Alteration to battery box - ¼" longer battery box required to enable batteries to be removed. The present battery box was designed for batteries .250" shorter than those supplied for the job. At present the batteries cannot be removed without dropping the box. (4) Starter motor - terminals on the starter motor must be plainly engraved and coloured (A.{Mr Adams} B. C. or other suitable notation), the corresponding wires must also be marked in some suitable manner. Considerable damage has been caused due to the wires being connected up on the wrong terminals. (5) Autovac - it is impossible to remove the contd:- | ||
