I cannot understand Mr. Clark's trouble about condensers:- (1) We allowed more room than Bosch design. (2) We concluded that any materials needed could be obtained in England, that nothing equalled mica for perfect insulation and giving high induction capacity (six instead of two for paper) and therefore there ought not to be the slightest trouble to equal Bosch if we allowed for the extra expense of mica. Regarding paper, the finish and thinnest may be made by the Japs, and if so, could be found in London. *Long ago, if there was any trouble, we should have asked the help of OY.* and everyone else available. It is very disappointing when I pointed out the chief trouble was moulded insulation, and with your help and the help of others succeeded with this most difficult subject, *we find ourselves held up for thin paper* for a condenser of some sort, *and sheet iron or steel of low hysterisis.* Even second quality would suit our work. We do not need transformer quality or Swedish iron which is now rarely used. Sankeys' have tons of what would suit us. Heaven help us because we do not seem able to help ourselves.
