Swindell}3/AP.12.8.37 BENTLEY III. We give herewith the list of parts which can be produced in readiness for the above unit, also information regarding parts about which there is at present no definite decision. (1) Crankcase & Bearings. As Wraith III. including:- (a) Mods. to suit new integral barrel cylinder block LeC.5778. (b) Facing to suit large A.C. petrol pump LeC.5776. (c) Bore of tappet guides at an inclination of 45' as instructed to the D.O. in our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}11/R.10.8.37. (d) Deletion of cast engine arms in view of new high suspension.? (e) Use of studs instead of bolts for crankcase and sump joint.? (f) Can D.O. give forecast of any modified bossing to suit adoption of controls for 2 horizontal S.U.'s as proposed for this unit.? (g) Die cast bearings in A.C.6. (2) Timing Gears. As Wraith III. in unhardened S/ZNX. (3) Spring Drive. (a) As Wraith III. incorporating lower rate damping springs to avoid big alteration in load by squash out of 'cotton duck' washers to LeC.5792. (b) Annular grooving of bronze bushes as per Ph.III. practice to improve lubrication of cotton ducks. continued | ||
