WF/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} LUTON, BEDS. 3rd May 1937. CMP please note & return Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, ATTENTION - MR. WEST. 30 amperes Fuses. With reference to the recent conversation between your goodself and our Mr. C.H.Dryden, we confirm that the following suggestions have been made:- 1) Re standard 30 amperes Glass Fuse, it is suggested that the fuse wire be cut slightly longer at each end, so that a piece of this wire projects beyond the solder. 2) That heavier gauge metal be used for the caps. 3) That we send you three dozen fibre barrel fuses for test. In reply to the various suggestions:- a) We do not recommend that the fuse wire projects beyond the solder, as this forms a sharp point and is liable to scratch anyone handling same. Furthermore, it does not improve the contact to the cap as this is made by the adhesion of the solder to the cap and the fuse wire. b) We think it would be a good thing to have a heavier metal cap and instead of pressed caps, we would suggest turned brass caps. 1. | ||
