tendency to whip to and fro whereas if the collar was located with only say .002" clearance with the end bracket projection, the amplitude of this oscillation would be reduced to a reasonable minimum; which we suggest would reduce the noise. This accuracy would of course present difficulties in manufacture but this appears to be the only means, beside that of grinding the sleeves and shoks to close limits, of obviating sleeve noise. A felt ring introduced between the collar, and bracket would also damp out the vibration and movement of the sleeves.
