X967 Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thnl/H24.10.21 A.T. Re. VACUUM OIL. With reference to the attached - you will remember that on the last occasion when this matter came forward, there was some correspondence with Sales on the matter, and we believe instructions were issued by CJ. that we should not hold correspondence with the Vacuum Oil Co. on this matter, except through him. You will no doubt deal suitably with this matter. As far as we know, the position with regard to Vacuum Oil has not changed since the question was last brought forward, although the Experimental Dept. have agreed, and we have advised Paris Depot accordingly, that if the recommended Prices Oils are not available, and if alternatively Wakefields Castrol Oil cannot be obtained, and in view of the fact that apparently Vacuum oil is the only oil which is easily procurable in France, that Vacuum Oil may be used on our cars.
