PHANTOM II COOLING - RADIATORS.

In He/Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}2/ADPT.4.30 we gave figures comparing this square tube radiator with a 6/7 m.m. radiator. In our report we mentioned that for some reason the 6/7 rad. used in this test was above standard in efficiency. We now find that it had a 5/7 m.m. matrix. At the time of the tests we had some tubes taken out to verify their size, but the ends were expanded 1/2 m.m. during the process of extraction, which made them 6/7 m.m. causing the error.

Actually, therefore, instead of being slightly less efficient than standard the square tube matrix is slightly more efficient than standard on the results of the single sample we have tested.

We have also been averaging out a number of 5/7 m.m. radiators and 6/7 m.m. radiators, and find that there is a measurable advantage in the smaller tubes.

TYPES OF RADIATOR MATRIX.

We are very enthusiastic about the new type of square tube radiator. We have been analysing the results of laboratory tests on some 60 types of radiator core made by the American Bureau of Standards. These were carried out on one square foot of core area in a wind tunnel up to speeds
