SECRET. By Copy to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} SHOT WHG HPC RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/Std. 640 E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.15.6.37. WRAITH III. REVISED RADIATOR. N.SCH.5069. ------------------------ The Experimental Department have illustrated to us that the fixing for the blanking plate on the front of the yoke at the base is inadequate to prevent it from rattling. On N.Sch.5069 we show it attached to the yoke by two rivets at each end. It is desired to increase the depth of the blanking plate downwards by 5/8", and to add three rivets attaching it to the forward flange of the horizontal piece of the yoke. With this modification the lower shutter bearing strip which is of dixstampo will sit on the top of the blanking plate. It will, therefore, be necessary to reduce the bosses on the dixstampo bearing strip by the thickness of the blanking plate. The bolts for the attachment of the bearing strip will serve as an additional attachment for the blanking plate. Would you kindly make the necessary modification to the detail.
