I believe Mr DE Salamanca will find this quite handy when he gets used to it. The chief trouble is that the body is rather in the way. We consider a long lever slow and prefer a short lever. Most of the racing cars we have seen or had acquaintance with have had very short levers as the for this purpose. X.915. FRONT SPRINGS. I think you will find that the springs had already taken a permanent set, and were striking the dumb iron when you left. I should not have expected these to have got any worse. It would be better if you could make them clear by filing away the bolts, rather than changing to the old pattern of spring, which is not so strong as these with solid eye opposite the plate. If this cannot be done you should get a pair from the Works, with the solid off set eyes, which were made specially to clear this pattern of dumb iron, and which we are fitting as standard to existing cars, until the dumb irons are altered.
