X.4075 - H.T. WIRING FOR GOSHAWK

With reference to comparative samples of H.T. cable from Messrs. Glover and Messrs. Helsby, we have tested these, and each sample has satisfactorily withstood a potential of 20,000 volts R.M.S. A.C. as regards insulation through the material. We find, however, that the Helsby is far more easily susceptible to surface leakage when damp, owing to the way in which the moisture forms a layer instead of breaking up into little globules as it does on the Glover cable, and we consider for this reason, and in view of the appearance of the cable, that we should not depart from the Glover cable.

We return samples herewith.
