To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X4024 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG29.12.26. RE. EIGHT-CYL. CAR. X435 X7260 With reference to the attached note from OY. We consider that his comments on the length of the chassis are interesting especially in view of the fact that Springfield make all short type chassis. OY. is suggesting saving length by shortening the bonnet, but when we did this on EAC-Vlll and EAC-Vll, the appearance was criticised. We expect to have a proper body on EAC-Vll in a few weeks and will then get Sales to judge the appearance again. It appears obviously wrong to have the chassis any longer than is necessary.
