Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} PN.{Mr Northey} CWB. X5040 R3/M16.10.28. VALVES. X. 5060 X. 5040 X. 5770 Our experience with 12-G-4 says that the valves are not getting enough oil, especially the inlets, because they have been sticking, spoiling the slow running, and making the engine unreliable at slower speeds; but not affecting the high speeds. It is possible that this fault caused you to blame the pistons because this engine has always been slightly unsatisfactory. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
