The carburettor on this car has been modified in accordance with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}5/JH.26.5.36, the alterations being - (1) A single base hole of 58 morse instead of 4 holes. (2) The petrol level lowered to 5/8". (3) The bypass jet reduced from .062" to .055". Performance tests carried out before and after the modifications had been made show a possible loss of 2 M.P.H. at the maximum speed, but to prove this the car will be tested at Brooklands. There are no signs of building up or luffing, although in coasting there is a slight spitting in the exhaust silencer. The maximum under-bonnet temperature obtainable by blanking off all free air passages was 70°C. No difficulty was experienced in starting up after a stop of 10 minutes.
