To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to CJ. EFC2/AT15.11.18. X.3404. RE STAINLESS STEEL. Further to our note EFC5/E81118, we have now the a reply from Messrs. Brown Bayley regarding the Stainless Steel. They say that it is quite possible to roll stainless steel into sheets although they are not able to do it at their Works. They think, however, that Messrs. Firth probably do this, and therefore Mr. Whitehead is going to make enquiries of this firm. We attach a chart sent to us by Messrs. Brown Bayley showing the expansion of stainless steel. They regret that they cannot give us the same information with regard to "Quick Step". Regarding the soldering of stainless steel they cannot say whether it solders really well, but they know that stainless knife blades are regularly soldered by cutlers into metal handles. EFC. | ||
