R, FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EY. INDIA 3. ENGINE SUSPENSION. Y5005 /5380 We send you herewith blueprints of LeC. 2534/5. shewing a rubber block suspension for India 3. of similar pattern to EAC.14., but arranged to suit the 20HP. system of detaching the engine. Actually we have used the same rubber pads and frame fittings as on EAC.14., but the rating of the rubbers may of course be altered as found desirable. The centres of the vertical engine foot bolts are practically the same as on the existing 20HP., while the flexible plates are cut away in the manner shewn to accommodate the crankchamber feet. It is expected that these plates will still act as required in the plan view by triangulating from the base next to the chassis frame. LeC. 2535. is alternative to LeC. 2534. and shews a triangular plate underneath clamped by the engine foot bolt itself. We think LeC. 2535. is to be preferred, and propose to ask Derby to rig up a 20HP. chassis at once on these lines unless we hear from you to the contrary. Regarding the lower palm plate this has been formed of two stampings brazed and pinned together. The scheme with triangular bottom plate however lends itself to making the palm plate in a single forging as on further print LeC.2536. herewith. It has the advantages of saving some weight and brazing, and using the existing 20HP. internal distance piece as on the upper foot, but the resulting forging is somewhat unbalanced. EB | ||
