DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} RY. ) C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. BACK AXLE. ORIGINAL R2/M28.8.31. X5350 When We are introducing a new back axle on J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. I think we ought to make it of the minimum diameter possible for a given bevel wheel, so that it will enable the rear seats to be as low as possible. (DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} has done this and sent it to Derby.) The back axle tubes proposed do not embody a good combination of parts for minimum cost. I have suggested to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} an entirely new treatment which he will send to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} this week. In J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. we have to modify the rear brakes so that they will not increase the dimensions of the wheel arch. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
