Next 10,000 miles Bentley Car.

This car was discussed with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} It was pointed out that in view of the delay of the present 10,000 miles test owing to the front axle modification, the majority of the smaller items for which designs were available would be included in the present test. Therefore to instruct any major improvements, schemes are required from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

It was agreed that the following items had reached a sufficiently advanced development stage for final designs to be prepared :-

(1) Completion of the rubber engine mounting, of which schemes LeC.3845/3883 have already been issued. The outstanding features are, cantilever pedals, freer exhaust system mounting and altered carburetter controls.

(2) Halford tappets with oil supply system and non return valve and filter.

(3) Completed designs for Textolite timing gears.

(4) Dropped cross member between the lamp brackets to prevent head lamps jellying.

(5) Front road springs shackled at the rear to eliminate springs buckling, and to reduce sponge in the brake mechanism.

Other parts on which development work is not yet completed but which it is hoped to include are :-

(1) Narrow Harrison radiator.

(2) Radiator grille.

(3) Modifications to side spare wheel carrier.

(4) Brake modifications to reduce sponge in the system.
