RE THERMOMETERS!

I would like to know how many cases of damaged Thermometers or Thermometer Connecting Tubes have been returned to your Department on the post-War programme.

So far as I can see, we have had quite a large number of failures and in view of this I am getting one of the principals from the Cambridge Thermometer Company over, in order to discuss the matter fully.

This becomes more important in view of the fact that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is now recommending that we should continue with the Thermometer.

I take it that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will obtain a decision on this point definitely from R.{Sir Henry Royce} before any movement is made, which should also be confirmed by CJ.

The matter is urgent as we are now putting cars on test without Thermometers and with no possibility of thermometers being supplied in the near future.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}
