| SECRET To. Mr. [REDACTED] Copy to Mr. [REDACTED] MARTINDALE File WRAITH Modified Fulcrum Pin on Yoke Piece for Brake Bell Crank Lever. It has been suggested by the Expl. Dept. that the fulcrum pin for the bell crank lever of the front brakes on the yoke piece should be a parallel fit in the boss on the yoke piece in the place of a taper. On N.Sch.5015 herewith we show the suggestion which they desire to try on the grounds of cost. If the parallel fit is to cost no more than the taper it must not be a fit that calls for fine limits such as a push fit or press fit; in other words the fulcrum pin should be turned only and the hole drilled only. We know that slackness in the fit in some cases has caused the fixing to come loose with this type of design, but in this case it may be permissible as the load is always one way.
