Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} 21/KW. 5.12.34.

All Helical Gearbox.

We understand Hdy.{William Hardy} has asked you to fit a new 2nd speed sliding piece in this box and increase the clearance on the shaft of the plain portion between the splines and the shoulder of the loose pinion bearing. In addition, will you please if possible fit the modifications shown on N.Sch.4286.

Can you improve the silence of the gear ?

If the 1st speed wheel and the helically splined bush on which it slides could be hardened, so much the better.

We do not imagine the increased leverage for 1st gear to N.Sch.4275 is ready, but should like it on the 2nd box.
