18. S. IV.

We have received your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Fm13HT 7.6.33.
We wrote to Paris for the loan of a carburettor and will let you know whether they can supply us with one.

With regard to the complaint sheet, we will have a look and see what we can do. This complaint I have been reporting for the last seven years, I have had Mr. Elliot on the job and various designs of stand pipes have been designed to try and over come the trouble. We have for a long while tried to get the two bolt scheme at the bottom of the pivots altered to prevent oil leaks. A scheme was fitted to 18. S. IV. but it has disappeared. The schemes tried out by the repair department are fruitless and possibly lead to scoring of the pivot bushes. the lubrication of which has received a lot of attention. The cutting down of the air capacity seems to be the most reasonable. We will try this out.
