CARL ZEISS LAMPS.

Last week I had an interview with the representative of the Zeiss Company regarding their lamps. In order to ensure that we were getting a fair comparison of these lamps with others, he wished us particularly to watch three points :-

(1) That in the undimmed position, the dimming cylinder control is so adjusted that the dimming cylinder is right back to the stop, this adjustment being easily effected by releasing the union nut at the lamp end of the Bowden control, pulling the outer cable back and resecuring the nut, i.e. the extreme inward position should not be limited by the Bowden lever, but by the stop on the lamp itself.

(2) That in making comparisons, the bulbs which we use are of the same wattage or c.p. as those used in other lamps. I think the bulbs at present in use in the Zeiss lamps are 35 Watt.

(3) That the conductors to the headlamps are of sufficient cross section reasonably to maintain the voltage on the lamp terminals.

In regard to (1) perhaps Mr. Lidsey will look into this.

In regard to (3) we will, by arrangement with him, sometime make a test on 10-EX of the voltage actually lost between battery and distribution box, and again between distribution box and headlamps. EFC.
