Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. C. Memor GSB 1212 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}19/ML.28.10.40. BARNATO'S CAR. We have dealt with the suspension and brakes on this car. The suspension trouble was due to the production front road springs being slightly different from the Experimental ones. The main portion of the brake trouble was due to water getting on the servo. We have been developing various types of shield on our Experimental cars and are fitting the one we propose for production. The worst feature on Barnato's car is undoubtedly the gearbox, which is so noisy that it is a definite reflection on the Bentley Company. Unfortunately, we have no facilities for doing anything about it but it is difficult to understand why it should be so bad since Lp{Mr Lappin}'s box, which is made to the same drawing, is quite passable.
