HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ["C. to" is crossed out] re. HP. REQUIRED ON P. 2. TO ACCOMPLISH 100 MPH. E4/M2.6.31. [Handwritten]: filed. x7771 We send herewith LeC. 2913. shewing a graph of HP. required for various road speeds developed from a curve given for 10-EX. in HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/LG301125., which curve appears to increase approximately as road speed to the 2.7 power, neglecting any constants due to tractive resistance, etc. This appears to indicate a HP. within the neighbourhood of 195. to accomplish 100 MPH., but this is of course very approximate. We also shew on this graph the speeds accomplished by the speed 6. and 8 litre Bentleys. We think it would be a useful thing if you could construct a curve of this nature up to the speed shewn more accurately and applicable to the body fitted to our continental model P. 2. Would you kindly return a blueprint of LeC. 2913. for filing purposes. [Handwritten]: Sent by to A ^ E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Signature] | ||
