To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from BJ. Copies to: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} CWB. OVERHEATING. We should like to try as soon as possible three cars, each of which could be fitted with two bonnets, one with and the other without louvres, so that we might judge of the comparative silence. The cars in question are the 20 h.p., the Silver Ghost and New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I. In the meantime we understand the Works will be making tests as quickly as possible with and without louvres, to ascertain what is the difference in the comparative heating, as if there is an advantage in having louvres as regards heating and there is little or no disadvantage with regard to noise, it seems desirable to fit louvres as quickly as possible to all cars to be delivered in future. Practically every car built now has louvres and the public have become used to them. There is therefore comparatively no disadvantage in regard to unsightliness. When do you think you will be able to make arrangements for us to make these tests, please? B.J. | ||
