| x251 To Ey. C: to Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}21/KW.7.2.36. Bentley Chassis. With reference to memo. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ws.6/F.3.2.36. it is most essential that we have the Petrol Reserve Warning Light on all large bore Bentleys, together with filter on 2nd cross member. If the filter remains on the dash we shall have complaints of vapour lock coming in by the score. We note from the above memo. that various components are already in stock. There seems to be no reason why we should not utilise the present standard filter by having a special distance piece made up to suit the second cross member until they are used up. Could not the petrol tanks already built be modified to take the new scheme at a less price than scrapping them ? We are getting into touch with Smiths to know the cost to modify units already in stock. It is not absolutely essential that we have the lantern type gearing on the first few units.
