R.R. 235a (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Ecs. 2/156/15. X.2778. X.802. To C.J. from En. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from En. Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}4/W6.11.19. RE USE OF GLOVERS CABLE IN LIEU OF LUCAS FOR STANDARD CARS. We are at present using Lucas cables for the wiring of the electrical equipment on our standard chassis. It was originally arranged that Lucas Cables should be used only until we were able to obtain supplies of Glovers Cables to our own specification. At the out-set it was anticipated that we should be able to fit Glovers Cables after 20 or 30 chassis, but arrangements were made to carry on with Lucas if necessary for 100 or 150 chassis. I am informed that difficulties have arisen in the supply of Lucas Cable and that continued supplies cannot be obtained. This necessitates turning over to Glover Cable at the 101st. chassis. These cables from Glovers are slightly larger in diameter and have necessitated modified clips to suit, but these clips are of course of the same general design. These modified clips have been put into production by agreement with Mr. Wormald in readiness for the change over. Mr. Wormald however raises the point that the change to Glovers Cable is a change of standardisation, since not only new type cables are used but also altered clips. Mr. Royce has indicated to me verbally his agreement in this proposal, but we now require Mr. Johnson's agreement in order that we may proceed with the delivery of cars so fitted. May your approval be given, please? En. | ||
