To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x+694 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.25.10.34. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Big Ends. When we replace the SpectreCodename for Phantom III on the test bed we should like to groove the intermediate bearings as well as the two end and middle. We shall thus be sure that the big ends get adequate lubrication, and any subsequent failure can be attributed to material or design. Personally I do not think that lack of lubrication was altogether responsible for the last breakdown, because we got away with this system on Hall's Bentley and were running at a considerably higher oil pressure on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III.
