Y4079 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW. from EFC. EFC1/T5.6.24. X.4079s - IGNITION COILS. Herewith we return to you redmanol encased coil TR{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3, having made the desired tests. This can now be replaced on 7GII. You should at your convenience carry out further comparative tests of the external spark gap with stabalite encased coil TS4, which is in your possession (at present on 7GII). We should like sometime to make a preliminary report, including the result of tests handed to us by your Mr. Gibson, together with results of these other tests which you will be making. This will only be of the nature of a preliminary report to the effect that there is some hope of these stabalite encased coils being O.K. In the meanwhile we have asked for three more such coils to be instructed and one will be sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} to replace the small bakelite encased coil which is at present on 6-EX. We shall also be making a careful comparison of the operation under bench conditions of these coils artifically heated side by side with stabalite encased coils TS6 and 4383, in a low temperature furnace.
