Valves + fittings put note in Leyland file NW.{N. Walker - Patents} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/ML.4.11.40. 1360 We did some work on hydraulic tappets eight years ago and attach a copy of a report on the subject, together with drawings which are self-explanatory. (Drawings Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1209. 1206 and 1210. Memo. reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.25.4.34.) Leyland's are now showing a great interest in this tappet and, I think, will probably use it. Can we get any sort of patent on what we do as opposed to what Major Halford did.
