To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c.c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/JH.10.7.40. re 40 m.m. Gun on Oerlikon Mounting. Attached to this memo. is the original of PL.281 showing the rapid way to attach the 40 m.m. gun to the Oerlikon Mounting. We have done all we can to avoid having to drill or machine more than necessary the casting of the mounting. We have taken the opportunity of providing a fixing for the Gordon Armstrong damper which is already in use and a stop upon which the gun can rest. This stop can be filed. We have provided 90° of movement in the vertical plane at least. The gun can be fired 7° below the horizon. Clearance has been provided for the compressed air connection which is underneath the gun. We are asking Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. to put all possible man power to the detailing of the 5 pieces. Attached PL.281. | ||
