X4853a To GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}; from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/KT. 28.9.33. BENTLEY - 10,000 MILES TEST. 200 cars are being produced similar to the one you are running in France. We have, however, held up a number of sections pending further information from you, and we should like you to make a special point of considering the features enumerated below, and report on them as soon as you have any positive or negative information you can give us. (1) Brake for the Dynamo Drive. This is being deleted now that we have the balanced cam, and we want you to make sure that we lose nothing by leaving off these parts. (2) Exhaust System. We have a new cut-out on this exhaust system so that we want to know anything we can do to improve this cut-out with regard to fumes in the body. We also want to know whether we can leave the lagging off at the rear end of the foremost box without bringing up tinniness, whether it is necessary to lag the intermediate pipe, and if you are satisfied with the spring suspension. (3) Petrol Pump. We should like a preliminary report on the behaviour of the petrol pump, and should also like to know whether the pump becomes noisy when the last two or three gallons are being used before the reserve. (4) Spherical support for the Clutch Pedal. We should like to know whether this is alright. (5) Needle Joints on the Prop. Shaft. We should like a preliminary report on the behaviour of this. (6) Oil leak from the rear of the Distributor Drive. We should like to know whether this oil leak occurs on the road. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
