PHANTOM III CLUTCH, LIGHTER SPRINGS.

We have received from the Tempered Spring Co. samples of G.85733/4, these are well finished and close to nominal poundage, and show no appreciable change in free length after compressing to almost solid length.

As pointed out in makers letter of May 5th. herewith, a slight alteration to the free length shown on the drawings should be made, we suggest G.85733 - 2.279 and G.85734 - 2.330 which gives rates of 206 and 213 lbs. in. respectively and we think the different rates so obtained may be due to the end coils.

Please also delete the "Saters Special steel" from drawings, as these are made of Swedish wire.

If you agree, please return the corres. herewith to O.O. together with an order for say 1000 G.85733 and 500 G.85744 which we suggest be used for complaint cases for a time, and if results appear satisfactory the G.85733 could be standardised for production.
