Many of the engines were fitted with heater plugs to assist starting. Most of the injector equipment was of Bosch design and manufacture; the exceptions being on engines made by Junkers, McLaren, Blackstone & Borne. The latter was fitted with a Deutz pump; a very simple affair having valves for inlet and delivery, also no attempt was made to keep the injection rate constant; injection commencing immediately the plunger starts to lift. This should not prove a very attractive feature.

---------

At the C.A.V.-Bosch Stand, I met Mr. Millar of their Diesel Dept., and he informed me that injection equipment would be in production at the firm's Acton Works in about three or four months' time; when they would be pleased to manufacture any special nozzles or pump elements that we may require at short notice. Shortly after the finish of the Commercial Show Mr. Millar has promised to pay us a visit at Derby, so that various problems of the compression ignition development work may be discussed.
