contd y- -2- We have carried out braking tests in parallel with your own here and find that with woven cotton servo and .5° cams, short levers on both ends of the pedal counter- shaft and reduced front braking, we get what we consider to be very good brakes. Naturally the pedal pressure feels heavy and we are not getting so much from front braking, but we think both these features are desirable to prevent brake squeaks. We should like you to run the car in this con- dition and tell us whether you have sufficient braking for high speeds on Continental roads. Will you please tell us the outside dia. and wire dia. of your cross steering tube springs as these have taken a permanent set and we are unable to find out which of the two available springs they are likely to be unless we have these dimensions. We can then see whether your figures are exactly the same as ours. Incidentally we have got DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} to design another spring giving the poundage we require in the cross steering tube and will let you have it as soon as it is available.
