Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} NOV 1 1927 RECEIVED R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BJ. c. BY/NW.{N. Walker - Patents} X8080 BY2/G.1.11.27. NEW PROVISIONAL PATENTS. BRITISH. IMPROVEMENTS IN CARBURETTERS. --------------------------- Referring to R1/M29.10.27. and dealing in the first place with your suggestion of a restrictor in the venturi of a straight through carburetter, to be drawn downwards or backwards by an air vessel depending upon the depression in the carburetter, or other automatic or manual means, it appears to us that we have already covered this in Patent No.222901 - Improvements in Carburetter, of which E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has a copy of the specification at WW. already. If this patent does not cover your requirements that you have in mind at the moment would you kindly indicate just where the improvements lie. With reference to E's suggestion, we read this to mean that we should claim the use of the governor control oil relay for operating the throttle of any expanding carburetter, our own for instance, instead of operating such throttle direct from the governor as we do at the present moment.
