TO [REDACTED] FROM E.V. +7600 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/16.1.30. COPY TO H.S. MS. (for C.S.C.) REAR WHEEL CARRIER HUB BRACKET. PHANTOM 2. We thank you for your print of D.Sch.714. It was thought that the bracket looked a little heavy when considered as a lever so we have set out N.Sch.3013. shewing a design which we propose. We do not know whether you propose raising the wheels on all cars by the use of this bracket. We are inclined to think that it would be the customers wish, as he would then be free to use other tyres than the Silent Tread Dunlop without being unable to get the spare wheel on the carrier. When we come to the 20ins. rims in the place of the 21ins. rims we now use, we believe that the tyre diameter will be only a very little less as the section will be 7.000 ins. The same bracket can be used therefore without the wheels being too high. Would you kindly send us two prints of the above. We may need one to send to Mr. Royce. We believe that Sales are very interested in this change and may want it to be available quickly. We suggest that its life on the bumping rig should be compared with that of the present bracket, if a 10.000. miles test cannot be waited for. E.V. | ||
