Dear Sirs, Re. Electric Petrol Gauge.

Referring to your letter of the 21st.inst. ref:E.2., we have now given this petrol gauge a preliminary bench test and are so far rather encouraged by the results.

There is one point we mentioned to your representative Mr. Mainwaring when he called here, namely, that on the instrument board unit we should prefer the needle recording the petrol in the tank, to be pivoted in the centre of the instrument in order to (a) match the Cambridge thermometer, (b) give a larger scale range.

The instrument you have sent us only gives a reading every two gallons, this being for our 14 gallons tank. We therefore feel that if such an instrument were used on our 20 gallons tank the present scale range would be unsatisfactory.

We attach herewith a rough scheme which we think should be adaptable to your instrument, this should show you exactly what we mean. We are wondering, however, if this would make the gauge unsensitive.

We should also like you to quote the price of the complete instrument when supplying them at approximately twenty per week.

Yours faithfully,

Sketch attached.
