Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Roy. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to Ms. X4429 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LG24. 2. 22. GOSHAWK 11. FIRTHS ROAD SPRINGS. X.4429. With reference to Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 1/WJ23. 2. 22. enclosing a copy of letter from Messrs. Firths and Sons, dated 22nd.inst. We do not agree altogether with the statement in their letter at the end of the page in which they say - "we have stopped all work, and have put on one side the springs which we have partially manufactured to your design which have proved to be unsatisfactory and which we are afraid can now only be considered as scrap". Our point is that Firths made a very much worse job than Woodheads when Woodheads were working to the same design of spring. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
