Dear Sir:

Ackermite Pivot Washers

COPY

We are sending to Mr. Royce under separate cover a pivot washer of "Ackermite" which has run 7500 miles.

This material is turned from the cast bar in our own shop, and cuts like a 10% lead bronze, whereas the Genelite washers are a special proposition supplied finish-ground by the General Electric Company.

The performance of Ackermite is indistinguishable from Genelite and better than fiber, especially when the oil runs low.

The proposal to use Ackermite was referred to in report Oy1/W7.28.25 on "Contemplated Alterations", Item 5.

Oy.
